Half Day of Mindfulness: Learning to Love Mother Earth

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

You are invited to join the Midwest Earth Holder Community for a Half Day of Mindfulness on Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. We will be coming together online over Zoom to practice mindful breathing, to rest, and to learn to love Mother Earth. The day will include sitting and walking meditation, singing, deep relaxation and Touching the Earth. There also will be a Dharma talk by Dr. Larry Ward titled, “Reverence to Mother Earth: How to be an Earth Bodhisattva”, followed by Dharma sharing in small groups with a facilitator.

Dr. Larry Ward has a PhD in Religious Studies with an emphasis on Buddhism and is an ordained Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. He also is director of the Lotus Institute. The talk was previously recorded and was part of the Lion’s Roar series called “In the Footsteps of Thich Nhat Hanh”.

The Midwest Earth Holder Community is a regional group and part of the global Earth Holder Community. The Earth Holder Community is a mindful Earth Justice initiative in the Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism. Our community is dedicated to bringing mindfulness, compassion, healing and nonviolence to protecting ourselves, one another, all beings and the Earth. Earth Justice includes Climate Justice and Racial Justice. They are interconnected, they inter-are.

The Half Day of Mindfulness is free. However, we do ask you to register on Eventbrite so we may prepare for the number of participants. To register, please go to this Eventbrite page:
